Satire or not?

Archigram and it’s contribution to, or rather portrayal of an endless travesty between nature and all things man made, from cars to houses, to everything that was technologically advancing during the 1960s, is very evident in their magazines and their conceptual designs. Archigram’s work never fails to invoke a brash feeling of awe. Often using the guises of image repetition, juxtaposition and hyper colours to create a visual compendium that allows the reader to better understand their coming-of-age abstractions.

In the Cushicle and Suitaloon supposition, the group seems to be addressing an issue that has just begun to plague britain; work. At this time, immediately after the war, people needed to work twice as much as they did before to sustain their families. One could agree that inside the Cushicle and Suitaloon, all necessary means for survival are included, making it very easy for any individual to never actually return back to the home that they worked so hard to sustain and provide for; but to instead continue working at the workplace, to promote more “efficiency” and less time wastage.  Weather or not this concept’s core purpose was influenced by satire is a notion that could still be classified as speculation.
